We are pleased to announce that the essent, a wall clock designed by Daisuke Kitagawa and produced by TAKATA Lemnos Inc., has won the Good Design Award 2025 (hosted by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion).

essent is a wall clock designed to be easily readable for everyone from children to adults and to blend seamlessly into various spaces, aiming to become a new standard. It was highly praised for fundamentally rethinking limited functions, materials, and manufacturing methods to discover new possibilities.
Taking this award as an opportunity, we will work to expand sales of essent while actively promoting the use of design in manufacturing and striving to enhance our brand image.

紙という素材の魅力を引き出し、エンボスや箔押しによって豊かな陰影を与えた文字盤は、従来の掛け時計にない新鮮で美しい表情を生み出している。12進法と60進法を同時にわかりやすく併記したレイアウトは、子どもにも直感的に理解しやすく、インテリアに調和するよう緻密に構成されている。こうした工夫は子どもから大人へと成長しても使い続けられ、世代を超えて長く愛用できる魅力につながっている。再利用可能なアルミ素材と、持続可能な森林資源を背景にしたFSC認証紙の採用は、それぞれの素材特性を活かした環境配慮の取り組みとして高く評価できる。時計としての役割にとどまらず、持続可能なものづくりを見据えた取り組みとしても、新しい可能性を示している。
