Though I started looking for clocks based on the sexagesimal system without thinking seriously, I was unable to find such a thing. When I went to a symposium to look for an aluminum processor for another purpose, I had the opportunity to listen to a discussion between Mr. Takata, a president of TAKATA Lemnos, and a designer. After an unexpected turn of events, I ended up going on a business trip to Takaoka for the first time, where the Lemnos headquarters is located. Guess what I saw in a waiting room full of various design clocks?

I designed the CARVED clocks with the aim of selecting a material that achieves a balance between the clock and the “texture and density” of the wall in the background, and using a processing method suitable for that material to realize my design. Last time, I started talking about the CARVED wall clock series. Instead of simply pursuing the best graphic for the dial, I paid attention to the wall in the background of the clock and made “texture” the clock theme in order to achieve a balance between the clock and any type of wall. In my search for the most suitable material, I found inorganic artificial wood, which is generally used as an interior decoration material.
